Under the aegis of the Psychological Counselling and Drug De-addiction Committees, the year 2024 marked significant strides in mental health awareness and compliance with the Mental Health Act 2017. Below is summary of key initiatives:

A pledge ceremony was organised on the ‘World Water Day’ so as to instill a sense of responsibility and accountability for the conservation of water.

A painting competition was organised in the college campus to commemorate ‘World Water Day’ on this year’s UN declared theme, ‘Glacier Preservation’.

A plantation drive to commemorate the International World Day of Forests was organised to sensitize the students about the merits of enhancing the plant cover for our healthy survival.

On the 19th of November, 2024, Department of Environmental Science/ Eco Club in collaboration with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Baramulla organized a Disaster Safety Awareness Programme in the college to sensitize the students and the faculty regarding various types of disasters and their mitigation measures.

National Space Day marks a historic day for India as the nation will be celebrating its incredible achievements in space exploration. This day is not just a celebration of past successes but also a moment to inspire future generations, highlighting the importance of space science and technology in shaping our world. Keeping up with this years UN declared theme, “Planet vs Plastic”, today on the 22-04-2024, the Department of Environmental Science in collaboration with the NSS Units/Department of Botany/Eco-Club of the college organized a painting competition to aware and educate the students regarding the menace of plastic pollution, its impact on planet, Earth and the urgent need to curtail its usage for our safe and sustained future.

Department of Environmental Science in collaboration with the Eco-Club of the college organized a program to celebrate the World Water Day on the theme, “Leveraging Water for Peace” to aware and educate the students in particular and the masses in general regarding the importance, management and conservation of freshwater resources for our safe and sustained future.

Nanotechnology for better Living workshop at NIT Srinagar

The primary objective of this awareness programme was to shed light on the significance of GATE and JAM exams in higher education. Participants gained valuable insights into the numerous academic and career opportunities that the exams opened up. The session witnessed an active participation of students and faculty members from diverse departments.

The Department of Psychology successfully organized a One-Day Seminar followed by Consultation on Polycystic Ovarian Disorder/Syndrome (PCOD/PCOS) on December 3rd 2024 , in collaboration with Paras Hospital, Srinagar. The event was graced by the esteemed Dr. Komal Rathore, Senior Clinical Dietician, as the keynote speaker. The seminar revolved around the theme: "PCOD/PCOS: Exploring the Nexus of Psychology, Lifestyle, and Behavioral Health."
